Announcing the 1998 Wine Project!
Looking for the perfect gift for someone who has everything? Can't decide which wine to serve your guests? Searching for a delicious wine at a great value? If so, look no further than the State Theatre!Through the exciting new 1998 State Theatre Private Label Wine Project, individuals, corporations and organizations will be able to reserve cases of State Theatre 1997 California Chardonnay and State Theatre 1997 California Red Zinfandel for holiday and client gift giving, party planning, and personal use. This great tasting and affordable wine will be available for purchase exclusively through New Brunswick restaurant Stage Left: An American Cafe, our project partner. For every case sold, Stage Left will donate all proceeds to the theater!
Heading up the volunteer effort will be Dr. Charles Brandwein, who has agreed to serve as the '98 Wine Project Chair-person. Dr. Brandwein, who is well-versed in wine, resides in North Brunswick with his wife Sydney. Together, Charles and Sydney have supported the theater by participating in the Benefit Gala both as patrons and as advertisers. Dr. Brandwein currently serves as the President of the medical staff at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and practices privately at Associates in Digestive Disorders in East Brunswick. Commenting on his involvement, he stated, "This is an enjoyable way for all of us to support the State Theatre, which contributes so much to our community." We look forward to working with Dr. Brandwein on recruiting community volunteers to implement marketing, publicity, sales and event-planning over the next few weeks.
We are also thankful for our innovative partnership with Stage Left, whose owners Francis Schott, Mark Pascal and Luis Riveiro searched the globe for wine worth considering for the project. They are now assisting with the overall logistical and legal aspects, and with the writing of tasting notes and copy for our marketing materials. Stage Left will also serve as the sales processing and wine pick-up center.
The two wines offered through the '98 Wine Project were chosen on August 12th by a volunteer wine selection committee at a tasting session led by Francis Schott and hosted by Stage Left Restaurant. Seven wines from California and Chile were reviewed, comparing their appearance, nose, palate and finish. We are very pleased with the committee's selections, which have been purchased direct from the barrels of Ehler's Grove Winery. Each bottle of State Theatre wine will showcase a custom private label elegantly designed by Kimberly Bender, who volunteered her services for the project.
A sales brochure and reservation form with pricing and complete information on the wine will be available in early October. Cases will be reserved upon receipt of payment on a first come, first-serve basis starting in October and continuing through December 31, 1998 or while supplies last.
Wine will be available for distribution from Stage Left starting in mid-November, just in time for the Thanksgiving and December holidays.
