Marquis de Lafayette

Bicentennial of his New Brunswick Visit

1824 - 2024

In July 1824, the Marquis de Lafayette, the last surviving major general of the American Revolutionary War, began a tour of the 24 United States. In the Fall, he arrived in New Brunswick to a hero's welcome. In our fair city, he addressed the citizenry and was fêted at a grand banquet and ball at Follett’s Old Bell Hotel on Albany Street.

He will be fêted once again on Friday, October 18 in a grand happy hour at 5 Livingston Avenue. We will celebrate the bicentennial of his visit along with the 100th anniversary of our building!

Yo, turns out we have a secret weapon
An immigrant you know and love who's unafraid to step in
He's constantly confusing, confounding the British henchmen
Everyone give it up for America's favourite fighting Frenchman:
 Lafayette!!!!

Suze is sponsoring the evening. Their gentian root liqueur has been an iconic French liqueur since 1889, and a unique, integral and exciting ingredient in the cocktail world. We’ll also be launching their new non-alcoholic Suze and Tonic, which is our favorite canned zero-proof cocktail ever.

Yvonnick Prene Trio will provide French-influenced jazz from 5-7 PM.
