Mark and I have championed estate-bottled wines from small producers since 1992. Why? Because this is the way the most delicious, expressive, and singular wines on the planet are—and always have been—made. Corporate wine can deliver power, but it can never deliver the unique voice of a farmer working his or her own land, attuned to the rhythms and music of a specific vineyard. And when that stewardship spans generations, the result is something truly extraordinary.

As more small wineries fall into corporate hands—producing wines that chase trends and value marketing over farming—winemakers like Paul Hobbs, George Hendry, and the Martinelli Family become ever more vital as guardians of our agricultural heritage. That’s why we are especially thrilled to welcome George Martinelli for a winemaker dinner on Wednesday, February 25.

George grew up in Sonoma County and represents a remarkable farming legacy. He is a fifth-generation Sonoma County farmer on his mother’s side and fourth-generation on his father’s. The Martinelli family began farming grapes in 1880, when George’s great-grandfather purchased and planted a vineyard near the Russian River. Today, George works alongside his parents and three siblings—together owning and operating their winery and vineyards as a true family endeavor.

On Wednesday, February 25, George will be here in New Brunswick, pouring his wines and joining us for dinner. We hope you’ll be part of this rare and meaningful opportunity to meet one of the most important—and impactful—wine families in America.
