John Balletto took over the family business after the untimely death of his father in 1977. At the age of 17, he relinquished several college athletic scholarship offers so he could stay home and help his mother, Hazel, run the small five-acre farm. Well that farm is much much bigger now and on it they grow amazing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that they sell to some very prestigious wineries. They keep the top 10% of their own grapes to make into Balletto wines. They are delicious and also a great bargain. Winemaker Anthony Beckman was once a journalist, then a biotech guy. Finally he found his true calling making wine in Sonoma’s Russian River Valley. He got an oenology degree at UC Davis and then worked through the ranks to become Balletto’s winemaker. He’s been making stunning wines there since 2009. Estate-grown, family-owned, delicious wines at extremely affordable prices! |
