Applejack and Independence

Our friends at Laird’s Applejack will be helping us celebrate. Moses Laird (1735–1798) served as a field guide and scout for General Washington prior to the Battle of Monmouth. On the eve of the battle, Moses and his family hosted Washington and his officers for dinner at their home in Englishtown, New Jersey.  Robert Laird served as a soldier directly under Washington's command. During the war, his family’s distillery supplied the troops with their famous applejack, a transaction recorded in Robert's account books.  

Champagne for Lafayette

Our friends at Alfred Gratien Champagne would like us to remember the contributions of the French: the fleet they sent to assist us, and Washington’s close friend The Marquis de Lafayette. We never turn down Champagne, so we’ve agreed! Mais oui, bien sûr
