A Favorite Rum from Venezula!

Diplomatico is a house favorite and Mark's go-to rum. Inland rum, like wine, can tell you where it comes from, as well as what it's made of. Inland rums, as opposed to island rums, are quite distinct. We love both, but inland rum, like Diplomatico, ages more slowly. On most islands evaporation in the barrel is so great, you would open up an old barrel of rum and there would be nothing left. The various climates of Venezuela, give the roneros (rum makers) the time to achieve excellent rums for mixing and for sipping. The Ambassador, for example, contains spirit no less than 14 years old. Their current 'single-vintage' rum is from 2007!
Come let Mark and me guide you through a tasting of seven extraordinary spirits and talk a little about how they come to be! We will taste the Planas (white rum), Reserva Exclusiva (Mark's favorite), Batch 1 (Kettle), Batch 2 (Barbet), Batch 3 (Pot Still), Vintage 2007 and Ambassador Selection!
